Pool Storm Preparation & Recovery Guide

Do not drain your pool.

The water helps hold the structure in place and prevents it from lifting or cracking due to ground pressure.

Turn off power to your equipment

at the breaker to protect it from electrical damage.

Remove loose items

like patio furniture, floats, skimmer lids, and pool accessories that could blow into the pool.

Leave water levels alone.

Your pool is designed to handle heavy rain and overflow as needed.

Add extra chlorine if possible.

This helps maintain water quality during and after the storm.

Do not turn equipment back on right away.

If it has been submerged—have it inspected first.

Remove large debris

(branches, leaves, etc.) from the pool as soon as it’s safe.

Run your system continuously

if it safe to do so. This allows for the pool to begin filtering out smaller debris particles.

Expect temporary water imbalance.

Heavy rain and debris will inevitably affect chemistry and the color of the water. It is not uncommon for a pool to turn brown during a major storm.

A Quick Note:

Storm cleanups and additional chemical treatments are not included in regular weekly service and may require extra service visits.
